LIFE ON THE FARM

Garden06

I seem to vacillate  between wanting the excitement of city living and the tranquility of country life. In order to find a satisfying compromise, Adrian and I decided to combine the two and create a small urban farm.

We created 500 sq. feet of raised beds, planted fruit trees and raised four chicks.  Fortunately in Austin, as evidenced by the Funky Chicken Coop Tour we recently attended, backyard chickens don’t raise too many eyebrows.

The tour is quintessential Austin, quirky and creative.  This yearly event takes place on Easter weekend.  Mark your calendars!

  1. I WANT CHICKENS! I pay a fortune for my organic eggs at Whole Foods. But what happens to the chickens when they stop producing eggs? Yikes! I might have trouble with that part….by then they will be part of the family! Love what you guys have done to combine the urban and the rural. Very cool!
