Happy Labor Day Weekend! Did you know that Labor Day was first established in 1894 to placate unionists following a labor strike? Thanks to those workers willing to risk their jobs to fight for labor rights we now have this long three day weekend to enjoy as we please! In fact, thank you to all that participated in the labor movement. We have them to thank for many of the things we workers of today take for granted, among them; the eight hour work day, weekends, minimum wage, sick days, child labor laws, and safety standards. I do think we may need to continue the movement in order to gain paid maternity leave (we’re the only industrialized country in the world not to offer this). But none the less, we do have a lot to be thankful for.
