“All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind,
from inner stillness.” Eckhart Tolle.
Eckhart Tolle’s spiritual teachings have always had a powerful impact on me. When I feel like life’s busyness is overtaking me I often read from one of his books to help bring myself back to center. Moving to a place of stillness, where our minds are free from the tactical aspects of living, gives us the space we need to communicate with our hearts and spirits using whatever medium we may choose, be it paintbrush, musical instrument, or pen. In today’s fast paced world visiting this place of stillness is often a conscious effort. It’s important to ‘unplug’ for a certain period of time each day and do an activity that allows the mind to rest. For me this is yoga and meditation, but the options are limitless. It’s amazing what creativity bubbles up from within when our thinking gets out of the way!
